For a Really Good Time, Read . . .

Readers Everywhere are Raving about Gambling for Good MailDeanne Goodwin of Cayucos, California writes, "I finished your book. What a great, fun and chockfull of insights read. You are a smarter and even sexier writer than I was aware. I barely put it down." Kay Van Horn of Dover, Delaware writes "I roared laughing. What humor! It was by far the best thing I've read this year." And Nixson Borah of Atascadero, California writes, "Wow! You really captured Orange County!" And, as if that’s not enough, Kathy Smith, Arroyo Grande, California called and left this message, "I just finished reading your latest book and don't understand why you don't make the best seller list for all of them. I like the way you write. Very intriguing. Sometimes I stop and say, 'How does she know that?'" But wait, there’s more: Bettie Shaw of Mt. Warren Park, Queensland, Australia writes, "I can hardly wait to make some Aunt Renee dolls and a silk float of many colors." Even Better, Roy K. Johnston, Poet of San Luis Obispo, California writes, “Evelyn Cole’s novel, 'Gambling for Good Mail', sets fiction on its head once more. Her imagination tickles the world of objective reality inviting a re-read and careful study, a refreshing dig for all of us.” Of course, her husband, John Turrill of Arroyo Grande, CA had something to say. "Since I'm her last husband and the novel is dedicated to me, I read it. I have to admit, I laughed and cried and kissed her hand the way Zhorzhe did." Here’s what it’s all about. Several strange addictions commonly used to avoid feelings are dramatized in Cole's latest novel. The main character, Felicia Wood orders from catalogues. She buys so much stuff it fills one room of her condo which her fourth husband had quit-claimed to her before leaving for Alaska. The novel opens as her fifth husband is leaving. No man can compete with a love for stuff. Through some hilarious trial and error Felicia comes to recognize her emotional void. Filling it without good mail makes the story. Also, it makes as the analogy that Cole is to fiction as Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy are to film. ###To read the opening chapter,
