STRESS SPREADS LIKE WILDFIRE
After a wildfire. Stress is a disease. A preventable disease. The American Psychological Association warns that it is a major health problem on the rise. A woman in the Bahamas thought her house was on fire after watching the fires in California on television too long. Stress blocks the natural flow of energy in the body. When you hold your breath too long your face turns red and you feel like you are going to explode. When you twist your garden hose you can't wash your car. The water won't flow. When any normal channel is blocked there's trouble. Asian medical practice unblocks the natural flow of energy in the body. The more television news we watch, the more we tend to worry. A New Yorker cartoon shows a man in front of his television. He says, "Watching people argue about the world situation night after night makes me feel like I'm doing something about it." It's funny because it's so true. If we worry we think we're doing something. Mother Teresa said that you can't be depressed when you run. Running, walking, playing ping pong--gets the energy flowing. Losing a house and all its contents must be heart-breaking. Consider the upside: you can re-evaluate everything in your life, start fresh. And you don't have to worry about your house burning down.
